Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Jefferson police department:
Tuesday, May 31: At 9:14 am staff at Oly’s Corner reported a female had attempted to redeem Iowa Lottery pull tab tickets that had already been paid out. It appeared the subject had removed tickets from the garbage and attempted to redeem them. The system showed they had already been redeemed. The officer is investigating. At 10:13 am an officer investigated a two vehicle property damage accident in the 1200 block of E. Lincoln Way. Caleb Haselhuhn was westbound on Lincoln Way driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer owned by Jan Haselhuhn. Robert Blasnitz was following him driving a 2003 GMC Sonoma. Haselhuhn pulled off the roadway into a private drive to turn his vehicle around. As he pulled back onto the roadway the front of his vehicle struck the rear passenger’s side of Blasnitz’s vehicle. Both vehicles suffered slight damage estimated at $500. Haselhuhn was cited for unsafe entry onto a highway.
At 11:22 am a complainant reported being assaulted by a known female at an apartment in the 1200 block of Westwood Drive. The officer later spoke to a female witness to the reported assault. Charges are pending at this time. At 11:48 am a complainant reported an assault that occurred May 27 at a residence in the 600 block of S. Wilson. The complainant reported she was assaulted by a female client at the facility as she worked as a house supervisor. The officer is investigating at this time. At 2:34 pm officers were requested at a residence in the 800 block of W. Monroe St for a reported domestic assault occurring between a mother and her adult daughter. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Beth Anne Laurent, 45, of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault-first offense (simple misdemeanor)*. At 3:39 pm a complainant reported a burglary to a vacant house in the 400 block of S. Locust St. Unknown subject(s) had damaged an entry doorknob and gained access to the residence. The officer is investigating. At 5:26 pm Richard Nelson came to the LEC to report that his wife, Kim Nelson, had been assaulted by Hy-Vee staff. He advised his wife was asked to leave the business and was physically pushed out of the business. At the same time Hy-Vee staff reported being threatened by Richard Nelson. Nelson was upset that his wife was no longer welcome in the business and had been asked to leave. At 5:47 pm officers assisted with a medical call at a residence in the 300 block of S. Pinet St. While assisting EMS, officers arrested Paul Richard Nelson, 42, of Jefferson for violation of a no contact/protective order-simple*. The officer has also requested an arrest warrant for violation of a no contact/protective order – aiding and abetting-simple for Kimberly Ann Nelson of Jefferson*.
Monday, May 30: At 12:02 pm Hy-Vee staff reported a female shoplifter removing alcohol from the business without paying for the item. Store video footage showed the event. The officer is investigating. At 12:29 pm Kum & Go staff reported a female shoplifter had taken items without paying for them. The officer was provided store video of the event. The officer knew the female and is preparing an arrest warrant.
Sunday, May 29: At 4:18 am a complainant reported a reckless driver on County Road E-53 traveling westbound towards Jefferson. An officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle. The driver, Christopher Christian, 35, of Grand Junction was cited for driving while license suspended*. He was subsequently arrested for a Boone County arrest warrant for failure to appear with the original charge also being driving while license suspended.
At 1:15 pm a complainant reported several items stolen from her purse at a residence in the 300 block of S. Pinet St. At 9:03 pm an officer initiated traffic stop with a vehicle in the 1100 block of E. Lincoln Way for vehicle lighting issue. After speaking with the driver, Dewayne Phipps, 29, and the passenger, Chelsey Phipps, 25, the officer learned there was an active no contact order between the two. Dewayne Phipps was subsequently arrested and charged with violation of a no contact order*. Chelsey Phipps was also arrested and charged with violation of a no contact order – aiding and abetting*. At 10:38 pm a complainant reported a theft of a SIM card from a residence in the 100 block of Harding Rd. An officer is investigating.
Saturday, May 28: At 6:02 pm officers assisted the Jefferson fire department, Greene County EMS and the Greene County sheriff’s office with a single vehicle rollover accident just west of Oakland Ave on Highway 30 east of Jefferson. A 2015 GMC Acadia was traveling westbound on Highway 30 towards Jefferson when it lost control and went into the north ditch, rolling over and striking a utility pole. The vehicle came to a rest on the driver’s side. Two individuals were stuck inside the vehicle. A JPD officer removed the sunroof from the vehicle and extracted the two individuals from the car. They were transported to the Greene County Medical Center emergency room by Greene County EMS for treatment. The Greene County sheriff’s office is investigating the accident.
Friday, May 27: At 4:50 am a resident reported a tree down across the roadway in the 800 block of South Grimmell R. An officer assisted the street department with removing the tree. At 6:43 am officers assisted the Greene County sheriff’s office with executing a search warrant at 203 E. Perry St. At 3:22 pm an officer assisted the street department with traffic control in the 600 block of S. Olive St for a fallen tree. At 7:28 pm staff at Hy-Vee reported finding a controlled substance in the parking lot. An officer responded and removed the controlled substance. The officer is investigating the incident. At 10 pm a landlord reported a trespassing issue at a rental property in the 300 block of N. Wilson. An officer responded but only found damage to the building. The officer is investigating the incident.
Thursday, May 26: At 3:24 am an officer located several trees blown down in the 700 block of S. Maple St that had landed on power lines. At 6:56 am a complainant reported a theft of a pair of jeans and perfume from a gym bag at the Greene County Community Center. Upon the officer’s arrival he reviewed security footage of the incident. The officer recognized this female in the video. A search warrant was obtained for the suspect’s residence in the 300 block of S. Pinet St. South. The JPD was assisted by the Greene County sheriff’s office with executing the search warrant at 8:39 am. Officers located the stolen pants and perfume. Also inside the residence was a young white and yellow cat that was reported stolen from Greene County PAWS on May 22, several items reported stolen May 18 from the Greene County Medical Center emergency room, as well as prescription pills. Kimberly Nelson, 38, of Jefferson was arrested for unlawful possession of prescription drugs, theft-fifth degree, and outstanding Greene County arrest warrants for theft-fifth degree*. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending. At 8:29 pm Casey’s General Store (N. Elm St) reported a theft of fuel.
Wednesday, May 25: At 7:41 pm a JPD officer assisted the Greene County sheriff’s office at Wild Rose Casino. Deputies were looking for two subjects involved in a theft in Grand Junction. The subjects were located and interviewed about the theft event.
Tuesday, May 24: At 1:15 pm officers were advised of a domestic situation occurring at a residence in the 800 block of W. Lincoln Way. Officers arrived and made contact with a couple at the residence. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Craig Allen Kinsey, 46, of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault- second offense and domestic abuse assault impeding air flow (both aggravated misdemeanors)*. At 8:35 pm a complainant requested officers at a residence in the 100 block of S. Pinet St as his juvenile son had just choked him. The officer arrived and spoke to both subjects involved. The officer arrested the juvenile male for domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow (serious misdemeanor)*. The juvenile was transported to the LEC and the juvenile court officer was contacted. The juvenile was later transported to the Eldora juvenile correction center.
Monday, May 23: At 1:44 pm staff at Doc’s Stadium reported receiving a check from a subject, but had learned the account had been closed long before the check was written. The officer is investigating. At 7:06 pm a complainant reported she had been assaulted the previous day. She reported two subjects knocked her to the ground and kicked her repeatedly. She could not identify either subject. The officer is investigating. At 8:03 pm an officer attempted to catch loose domesticated rabbits in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. The officer was not successful.
Sunday, May 22: At 7:29 pm an officer investigated a two vehicle property accident at N. Vine and W. Clark St. George Glasgow was eastbound on Clark St driving a Chrysler Sebring. Emily Joy was northbound on Vine. The vehicles collided in the intersection; both suffered major damage. Glasgow was cited for driving while license suspended and failure to yield to vehicle on the right. At 10:52 pm an officer performed a traffic stop in the 1000 block of N. Elm St after locking a motorcycle on his radar unit that was speeding. The officer arrested Nicholas Scott Lytle, 32, of Jefferson for driving while license revoked*.
Saturday, May 21: At 9:52 am staff at HyVee requested an officer for a shoplifting incident. The store provided the officer with video showing a female taking fingernail polish from the store without paying for the item. The officer identified the female from the video and has requested an arrest warrant for Kimberly Ann Nelson, 38, of Jefferson. Nelson will be charged with theft – fifth degree*. At 2:33 pm staff at the Jefferson public library reported criminal mischief to an outside outlet cover at the library.
Friday, May 20: At 7:13 am an officer investigated a backing accident in the 100 block of N. Chestnut St. William Heaning of Jefferson was backing a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck owned by New Cooperative Inc from a parking spot on the east side of the street. Heaning backed across the street while turning and made contact with a vehicle parked on the west side of the street. The parked vehicle, a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix owned by Matthew Schroeder of Jefferson, incurred a reported $500 in damage to the driver’s side. The New Cooperative pickup truck incurred a reported $100 in damage. Heaning was cited for unsafe backing upon a highway. At 12:25 pm a complainant reported an abandoned bicycle in her yard in the 800 block of W. Harrison St. At 2:11 pm a complainant reported following a vehicle westbound from Grand Junction that was all over the road. The officer got behind the vehicle in Jefferson on Highway 30 and followed it. The officer performed a traffic stop at Highway 30 and M Ave after witnessing the vehicle drop onto the shoulder numerous times. The officer learned the driver had been placed on pain medications that were making him tired. The officer issued James Charles Pepples of Ogden a citation for failure to maintain control. The officer arranged for a driver to come and remove Pepples’ vehicle and drive him home.
Thursday, May 19: At 9:54 am Hy-Vee requested an officer for a shoplifting that had occurred on May 17. The business provided video of the event for the officer. A bottle of alcohol had been stolen by a Jefferson female. The officer is investigating. At 3:26 pm officers were called to the intersection of Elm and Madison St for a car-bicycle personal injury accident. The intersection was a controlled 4-way stop at the time of the accident, as the school stop signs were out at the intersection. A 14-year-old juvenile female was riding her bike through the intersection in the south crosswalk. She was travelling from east to west. A 2013 Buick Lacrosse, owned and operated by Louise Harris of Jefferson was stopped at the stop sign in the outside southbound lane. The Harris vehicle left the stop sign heading south and struck the juvenile as she went through the crosswalk on her bike. The juvenile was transported to the hospital by Greene County EMS with possible injuries. Harris was cited for failure to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk. At 4:22 pm Stacey Hardaway advised an officer that her vehicle had been hit and damaged while parked at the Greene County High School parking lot. The 2005 Mercury Monterey had been struck in the rear bumper cover. The vehicle had a reported $1,000 in damages. The officer is investigating. At 10:47 pm officers were requested at a residence in the 700 block of W. Mahlon St for a reported domestic situation. The officer learned that a female who lives at the residence had been involved in a verbal argument with an ex-boyfriend. The male had damaged the rear hatch of the female’s vehicle, struck her vehicle with his and left the area before the officer’s arrival. The officer has completed a request for an arrest warrant to be issued for Shane Detlef Coil, 36, of Jefferson for criminal mischief – fourth degree (serious misdemeanor)*. The female’s vehicle had a reported $450 in damages from the incident.
Wednesday, May 18: At 9:29 am staff at Greene County Medical Center’s emergency department reported the theft of medical related items. A female had visited ER and had taken numerous items from the exam room in which she had been seated. The officer is investigating. At 9:57 am staff at the Iowa DOT shed in Jefferson reported someone had put a deep freeze full of rotting meat in their dumpster at 610 North Pinet St. The officer is working to trace numbers on the meat back to the processor and eventually to the person who had the meat processed. At 3:07 pm a complainant reported damage to the trailer towing ball on his vehicle at 1000 W. Adams St. At 7:43 pm staff at Bomgaars requested an officer check on a female that was sitting in her vehicle in the parking lot since the business had closed one hour earlier. The officer made contact with the female. She was texting on her cell phone and did not want to do so while driving. At 8 pm an officer spoke with two residents on N. Olive and N. Cedar Streets about blowing grass clippings into the street while mowing. The officer advised the residents to clean the grass from the street. City ordinances prohibit grass clippings from being deposited on the street due to the clippings blocking street storm water intakes. ******* An officer finished his investigation following a search warrant that had been executed at 203 E. Perry St on Jan. 30. Tyson James Ruth, 26, of Jefferson and Joey Ann Godwin, 35, of Jefferson have both been charged with possession of methamphetamine 5 grams or more with intent to deliver (Class B felony) and possession of drug paraphernalia and theft-fifth degree (simple misdemeanors)*.
Tuesday, May 17: At 9:15 am a complainant reported receiving numerous unwanted text messages from multiple phone numbers. The officer believed her number had been posted on a dating site without her permission. The complainant advised she would change her number to end the issue. At 10:39 am officers executed a search warrant at 504 S. Olive St. The warrant permitted the officers to locate and remove a dog from the residence. The dog had been placed with the occupant for care until it could be adopted through a Des Moines firm for animal adoptions. The dog had been adopted out, but the subject refused to give the animal back to the firm. Kyle Matthew Cuddy was placed under arrest for theft – fifth degree*. The officer had obtained an arrest warrant for the charge after Cuddy had refused to give the animal back to the firm as he had agreed upon. At 3:41 pm an officer investigated a backing accident at the UnityPoint Clinic parking lot. An all-terrain Skytrack lift was completing construction work to the facility when the driver backed the piece of equipment into a parked vehicle in the lot. A 2008 Dodge Avenger, owned by Michelle Lee Meyers of Grand Junction, suffered a reported $1,000 in damage to the rear of the vehicle during the incident. At 7:41 pm an officer was requested at Washington Park for a dispute that had occurred between several juveniles at the park. The officer spoke to all the juveniles involved with their parents and learned a verbal dispute had led to all parties throwing rocks at one another. The officer left it up to the parents to deal with their children concerning the issue. No one was injured during the event. At 8:40 pm staff at Sparky’s One Stop reported a female had not returned to pay for fuel after realizing she had forgotten her wallet at home. She was allowed to leave the business to retrieve her wallet, but never came back to pay for the fuel. The officer is investigating.
Monday, May 16: At 9:23 am a complainant reported a burglary occurring to his vehicle sometime in the last two weeks. He could not be certain where the vehicle had been parked when items were removed from the center console. At 1:44 pm a complainant reported someone had tampered with her door knob at a residence in the 100 block of N. Olive St. At 2:37 pm a complainant reported a burglary that had occurred at a residence in the 600 block of N. Oak St. When she arrived home from work she found a door had been opened by force. The officer is investigating. At 8:04 pm a complainant reported two male juveniles had flipped a picnic table over at Russell Park. The officer made contact with the two boys had them correct the table, and spoke to them about the incident. The officer sent them home after the incident. The table was not damaged.
Sunday, May 15: At 6:11 am staff at Wild Rose Casino requested an officer there. Casino staff had located a small baggy containing possible narcotics on the gaming floor. The officer believes the substance to be methamphetamine. The officer is reviewing video to try and determine ownership of the baggy. At 8:47 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to his vehicle in the 300 block of W. Lincoln Way. At 7:46 pm an officer arrested Joseph Ross Jabaay on an outstanding JPD arrest warrant for trespass*.
Saturday, May 14: At 12:18 pm Union Pacific railroad staff reported train personnel had witnessed a male fall off of his riding mower near Perry and Cedar Streets. The male was reported to not be moving after the fall. Officers checked this area of the city, but did not locate the subject.
Friday, May 13: At 3:49 am the Jefferson fire department and Greene County EMS responded to a structure fire at 300 S. Wilson. The apartment building and surrounding residences were evacuated. The fire started in an upstairs apartment when a wall furnace ignited a nearby stack of newspapers. The apartment received heavy fire damage. The remaining apartments suffered smoke and water damage. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the occupants of the apartment building with temporary shelter and other needs. At 6:17 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to his vehicle parked in the 100 block of S. Oak St. At 6:52 am a complainant reported the theft of two dog fencing panels from a residence in the 500 block of W. Lincoln Way. At 10:14 am a complainant in the 100 block of S. Grimmell Road reported unauthorized use of her debit card. The officer is investigating. At 10:49 am a complainant reported an injured squirrel at a residence in the 500 block of E. Clark St. At 8:17 pm a complainant advised of a known male trespassing at her residence in the 600 block of W. Adams St. At 11:10 pm staff at Wild Rose Casino reported criminal mischief to a bathroom there.
Thursday, May 12: At 4:31 pm a complainant reported damage to an exterior door knob at a residence in the 100 block of N. Olive St. At 9:59 pm Wild Rose Casino security staff requested officer for a possible attempted theft to a vehicle. A patron had gone to their vehicle and found a female attempting to gain entry to the vehicle. The patron yelled at the female, who fled the area in a maroon passenger car. Both subjects left the area before officers arrived. The incident remains under investigation.
Wednesday, May 11: At 6:14 am a complainant reported the theft of his vehicle keys from his unsecured vehicle in the 100 block of E. Adams St. At 11:50 am an officer was advised of grass clippings blown into the roadway in the 200 block of N. Oak St. The officer made contact with the property owner and advised them to clean the clippings from the street. City ordinances prohibit grass clippings from being deposited upon the roadway.
Tuesday, May 10: At 4:56 pm an officer was called to the Hy-Vee parking lot at for a backing accident. Kirsten St Clair of Jefferson and Freddie Richards of Dallas (IA) backed from parking spaces directly behind each other at the same time. Neither driver noticed the other and their vehicles collided. Damage to the vehicle St Clair was driving, a 2005 Toyota Camry owned by Rodney St Clair, was estimated at $500. Damage to the vehicle Richards was driving, a 2010 Toyota Rav4 owned by B & D Manufacturing, was estimated at $1,000. Neither driver was cited as the accident occurred on private property.
Monday, May 9: At 4:44 pm a complainant reported criminal mischief to her vehicle as it was parked at a residence in the 400 block of N. Cedar St. At 5:06 pm a complainant spoke with an officer about possible trespassing occurring at a rental unit in the 300 block of N. Wilson. At 6 pm a complainant reported the theft of a bicycle from a residence in the 400 block of N. West St.
Sunday, May 8: At 7 am a complainant reported a female getting into her guest’s car in the 900 block of W. State St. The complainant had attempted to follow the female, but lost sight of her. The overnight guest did not have items missing from her car. The complainant gave a description of the female to the officer. An investigation has begun. ******* Arrest warrants have been signed for a subject who left a stolen vehicle, and stole a truck from the parking lot at Wild Rose Casino on May 1. Daniel Blain Pierce, 43, of Colfax has been charged with possession of stolen property and theft- first degree*, both Class C felonies, for the reported thefts. The arrest warrants each have a $50,000.00 bond.
Saturday, May 7: At 2:06 am an officer was called to Wild Rose Casino for a backing accident. A 2014 Chevy Equinox, owned by Verla Ann Rose Venteicher of Carroll, had light damage when the driver returned to it. The officer worked with casino security personnel to determine a 2003 Ford F-250, owned by Guillermo Bonilla-Perez of Perry, had backed into the Venteicher vehicle and left the scene. The officer is working to make contact with Bonilla- Perez. At 8:41 am a complainant reported criminal mischief to his vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of E. State St. The complainant reported his window had been broken out and money had been removed from the vehicle. The officer could not locate any broken glass from the vehicle in the reported location. The complainant eventually advised the officer his car had actually been parked on a gravel road south of Grand Junction when the damage occurred. The complainant was sent to the sheriff’s office to make a report with them. At 10:12 pm officers were called to the Greene County Medical Center emergency room for a reported domestic abuse that had occurred. The officer learned that a juvenile male has struck his mother in the head, causing injuries. The officer is investigating at this time and expected charges against the juvenile male are pending. At 11:49 pm officers were called to the intersection of E. Harrison and S. Chestnut St for a female lying in the street. The officer made contact with the female, who had minor injuries to her head from falling down. Brenda Lea Parker, 47, of Somers was arrested for public intoxication-first offense*.
Friday, May 6: At 1 pm an officer was given a school bus violation report from a Greene County school district bus driver. The report advised of a vehicle that had proceeded past a school bus while the lights were activated and the stop sign was out. The officer is investigating. At 12:12 pm officers were advised of a two vehicle property damage accident at Elm and W. Lincoln Way. Both drivers had left the area before the officer’s arrival. Both drivers had advised the reporting party that did not wish to have a report made by police before leaving the scene. At 3:14 pm officers were assisted by a Greene County deputy, Jefferson fire department, and Greene County EMS with a two vehicle personal injury accident at Highway 30 and Mulberry St. Tressa Marie Upton of Des Moines was eastbound on Highway 30 driving a 2004 Ford Taurus. Grayce Mary Marsh of Jefferson was southbound on Mulberry at the stop sign at Highway 30, driving a 2015 Ford Focus. Marsh vehicle left the stop sign and proceeded to cross Highway 30 in front of the Upton vehicle. Upton’s vehicle collided into the passenger side of Marsh’s vehicle. Both vehicles were a total loss. Both drivers suffered injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
Thursday, May 5: At 8:04 am a complainant reported an overnight burglary to his vehicle in the 300 block of N. Cedar St. At 2:54 pm a complainant reported that his residence in the 400 block of S. Olive St had been burglarized numerous times over the past few weeks. Murphy had not reported any of the burglaries when they had occurred. The officer is investigating.
Wednesday, May 4: At 6:38 am an officer was called to Durbin Automotive for an overnight burglary to the business. Items had been removed from the business. The JPD is currently working with the Greene County sheriff’s office and agencies from Boone, Carroll, and Calhoun counties in connection to the reported burglaries occurring in town and Greene County. Suspects have been identified in the recent rash of burglaries and charges are pending at this time for numerous recent burglaries. At 8:15 am an officer located damage to a door at 903 N. Elm St. The officer is investigating the attempted burglary to the business.
Tuesday, May 3: At 1:23 pm officers were requested at a residence in the 800 block of W. Lincoln Way for a reported domestic abuse assault. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of Polly Ann Kinsey, 45, of Jefferson for domestic abuse assault – simple*. At 2:16 pm a juvenile female reported that as she walked south on the bike trail, near the Greene County High School, a vehicle approached her on the trail at a high rate of speed. The female advised she ran from the trail into a nearby field to avoid being struck by the vehicle. The vehicle was described as a newer dark colored 4-door pickup with a chrome grille. The officer is investigating the reported incident.
Monday, May 2: While patrolling the parking lot at the Wild Rose Casino, an officer located a vehicle which the registration plate did not match the vehicle description given in the Iowa NCIC system. The officer ran the 2015 Dodge Caravan by the VIN and learned the van was reported stolen from Pleasantville on April 26. The officer worked with casino staff and viewed surveillance video from the casino. The officer learned the vehicle had showed up at the casino around 11:45 pm Sunday. A vehicle was reported stolen a short time later from the same location, as listed in the daily report from May 1. Video shows the same male subject arriving in the stolen van before taking the Flack vehicle. The investigation is ongoing. At 6:32 am an officer started an investigation after being called to the car wash at 902 N. Elm St for a reported overnight burglary to the business. Subjects broke a window to the office area and removed currency. At 9:23 am staff at Cobblestone Inn reported finding several hand tools that were discarded in an outdoor trash can. The officer is working to determine if the tools have been stolen. At 11:10 am a complainant reported the theft of jewelry from a residence in the 100 block of E. Clark St. At 1:46 pm while on patrol officers spotted a male for whom there were outstanding arrest warrants. The officer made contact with the male and placed him in custody for the outstanding warrants for failure to pay child support and probation violation. Officers also located illegal items on the male subject while arresting him. Christopher Herbert Lawrence, 36, of Jefferson has been charged with possession of methamphetamine- second offense (aggravated misdemeanor), carrying weapons (aggravated misdemeanor), and possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)*. At 3:07 pm officers were requested at 1006 North Vine St for an overnight attempted burglary to the business. Subjects had drilled a lock out, but had not gained entry to the business. The incident remains under investigation.
Sunday, May 1: At 1:42 am a complainant reported the theft of a motor vehicle from Wild Rose Casino. The complainant’s 2008 Chevrolet K2400 HD truck was missing from the casino parking lot when he returned to where it had been parked. The officer is working with casino security and has obtained video surveillance of a possible suspect in the theft. The investigation is still underway.
At 9:01 am a complainant reported a known male came to his residence and assaulted him in the 500 block of S. At 11:41 am the resident of a home that had been previously burglarized in the 500 block of S. Locust St reported finding lights on and the windows open. It appeared as if someone had been inside the residence while the resident was away. The officer is investigating.
